Rucking Gear — Buy Online
Rucking is walking or hiking with weight on your back, and the gear matters — a standard rucksack isn't built to carry a loaded plate safely or comfortably. The Force Fitness range covers a rucking backpack, a slimmer plate carrier, and cast iron rucking weights, so you can put together a setup that suits how and where you train.
Every product in this range comes with a warranty and 60-day returns, with free UK delivery on orders over £100.
Key Features
The Rucking Backpack is built from 1050D Cordura with a dedicated plate compartment, padded lumbar support and shoulder straps, and a sternum strap to keep the load stable. It can be bought as a backpack alone or with weight added in 5kg increments. The Rucking Plate Carrier is a slimmer alternative that sits closer to the body, similar in profile to a weighted vest, for anyone who doesn't want a full backpack's worth of extra kit. Rucking Weights are solid cast iron plates with a matte black powder coating, available in 5kg, 10kg, 15kg, 20kg and 25kg, designed to fit both the backpack and the plate carrier.
Where and How to Use Rucking Gear
The Rucking Backpack suits longer sessions where you also want to carry supplies — water, a phone, a laptop or hydration pack in the internal sleeve — alongside the weight. The Rucking Plate Carrier suits shorter or higher-intensity sessions where you want the weight close to your body without the bulk of a full pack. Both are used outdoors on trails, roads or hills, and both are compatible with the same Rucking Weights, so you can move a plate between the two depending on the session.
Exercises and Applications
Rucking is used for endurance walks, hill sessions, and load-carrying training originally drawn from military conditioning. It's also used as a lower-impact alternative to running, and as a way to add resistance to an otherwise easy walk. Because the weight is added via separate plates, the same setup scales from a light introductory load right up to a serious training weight as fitness improves.
Rucking Benefits
Rucking builds aerobic capacity and lower back, leg and core strength at the same time, and burns more calories than walking at the same pace without the impact of running. Carrying the load on a pack rather than in the hands keeps the arms free and distributes weight more evenly across the back and hips. Because plates can be added in increments, rucking gear scales with you. Beginners can start light and add weight as endurance and strength improve, rather than needing a heavier setup from day one.
Rucking Accessories
Rucking Weights are the core accessory for this range, sold separately so the Rucking Backpack or Rucking Plate Carrier can be built up to whatever load suits your training, rather than being locked into a single fixed weight.
